Hi Friend,

December has a way of amplifying communication—at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

Conversations feel heavier. Emotions sit closer to the surface. We’re closing out projects, navigating family dynamics, reflecting on the year behind us, and thinking about what’s next. And in the middle of all that, it’s easy to react instead of respond… or to avoid conversations altogether just to “keep the peace.”

Yet this season reminds us of something important:

The conversations that matter most deserve intention.

Before we speak—especially in moments of tension or emotion—one simple question can change everything:

What do I want this conversation to create?

Not how it ends.
Not whether I “get it right.”
Just what I want to move forward in that moment.

When we lead with intention, our communication changes. We listen more closely. We choose our words more carefully. And even when the conversation is hard, it feels more grounded, authentic and productive.

A Thought That’s Stayed With Me

Recently, I’ve been revisiting the work of Jefferson Fisher, whose insights around calm, intentional communication are some of the wisest I’ve come across. One reminder I appreciate most is that strong communication isn’t about winning or proving a point—it’s about clarity, presence, and knowing when to pause.

Especially this time of year, that reminder feels timely.

A Personal Moment I’m Excited About

As I look ahead to 2026, I’m incredibly excited (and still a little amazed) to share that I’ll be serving as the MC for EA Ignite Springand that role includes interviewing Jefferson Fisher!!!

I love his book, The Next Conversation, and I’m also a huge fan of his podcasts. His approach to calm, intentional communication has shaped the way I think about conversations—especially the ones that matter most. I’ve learned so much from his work, which makes the opportunity to sit across from him and learn in real time feel even more profound.

This is truly a dream moment for me—not because it represents a “next level,” but because it reflects something I care deeply about: the art of guiding conversations.

Being an MC sharpens your listening. It challenges you to create flow, hold space, read the room, and elevate the voices of others. It’s one of the most powerful communication roles there is—and one that continues to stretch and grow me.

I see this opportunity as part of my ongoing communication learning journey. There’s always more to refine, more to notice, more to practice—and I’m grateful for that.

As We Close Out The Year

As December unfolds, I invite you to reflect on just one thing:

What’s one conversation you want to approach differently—more intentionally—before the year ends?

Sometimes the smallest shift in how we communicate creates the biggest change.

Thank you for being here, for growing alongside me, and for continuing to show up with curiosity, courage, and intention.

Wishing you a meaningful holiday season and a wonderful start to the new year,

Peggy
