March 2024

Can you feel it in the air? Spring is peeking around the corner, and we’re so excited! Who isn’t thrilled about the prospect of warmer days, blooming flowers, and that fresh burst of energy that comes with the season?

When we think of spring, our minds automatically drift to nature waking up from its winter slumber. We picture vibrant blossoms, lush greenery, and a lot of growth in our gardens. But here’s the kicker – we’re not just talking about Mother Earth here. We’re talking about you and me right where we’re planted.

Yep, you heard that right! This season isn’t just about the birds chirping and the flowers blooming; it’s about us blooming, too. It’s about embracing growth, even when things around us might seem uncertain or challenging.

In this newsletter, you’ll find tips, insights, and stories to help you thrive in whatever soil you’re rooted in. So, grab a cup of coffee, take a seat, and let’s explore how we can bloom right where we’re planted.

Let’s do this! 🌸🌱
Peggy

Have you ever felt stuck in a rut, like life dealt you a hand you didn’t sign up for? Yeah, I’ve been there, too. But you know what? Life’s not just about the cards you’re dealt; it’s about how you play them. Picture this: you’re that determined little flower pushing through a crack in the concrete. It’s not where you’d ideally want to grow, but you make the best of it and bloom anyway.

Maybe you’re still determining where you want to be. Are you pulling double duty, grinding away at a day job far from your dream, and burning the midnight oil to chase that passion? Or are you going after that promotion, and the door has yet to open? The key is keeping those dreams alive, which keeps our spirits soaring.

Here’s the reality: sometimes, we’ve got to put up with things we don’t want or love to get where we want to go. Not everyone can drop everything and chase their dreams. Sometimes, it’s a slow burn. So, instead of stewing in bitterness over your circumstances, why not try blossoming right where you’re planted?

1. Every step is a setup for the next one

Have you noticed how every chapter in your life sets the stage for the next? Every moment and struggle is all the building blocks for your next big move. So, you’ve got a choice here. You can either throw a pity party, griping about why you’re not where you want to be, or you can see it as a lesson. Ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” and “How can I use it to rocket toward my goals?”
I’ve so been there. I remember being in a job where I was thriving professionally. I was in a steady state of growth and embraced being an executive assistant. I had more responsibility and authority than ever and loved my role. The only problem was it was a toxic environment, and it was stemming from the top, which meant that the culture was going to stay the same. I had two choices: 1) deal with it or 2) leave and start over. I chose the latter.

The good news is that all the positive things about that former position set me up for success in my next position.

Things might be challenging for you right now, but maybe that’s to teach you how to shine your light even brighter. Keep moving forward, take that next step, and know your current situation doesn’t dictate your destiny.

Choose to find a way to be happy now; that may mean it’s time for a transplant.

2. Quit the whining

Back in the day, I worked with two totally different folks. One was positive, a team player, and found humor in everyday situations. The other? She was a chronic complainer. She always saw the negative, no matter what happened in the office. Guess whose company I preferred? Yep, the fun-loving, positive one who made my days fly by. The complainer? Not so much.

Your job might not be a dream position right now, but here’s the deal: figure out what you can change and what’s out of your control.

When you can’t change the situation, rise above it. Remember that whatever we focus on grows. Pour your energy into the good stuff.

3. Spread the love

Look for opportunities to spread kindness. Your struggles have primed you to be a blessing to someone else.

Despite your struggles, you can choose to be a beacon of light, inspiring others along the way.

4. Bloom through the cracks

Maybe you’re stuck in a situation where the people around you need to bring their A-game. Instead of waiting for them to change, focus on yourself.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you must trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.” ~ Steve Jobs

This chapter? It’s all part of your story. So tie yourself to your higher purpose and give it all you’ve got. Learn to bloom where you’re planted. Even if you feel buried under concrete right now, there’s always a crack to find your way out.

Despite the odds, choose to bloom, Friend.
