Happy New Year!
Are you feeling the pressure of a New Year- New You, and New Year’s resolutions? If you do, you’ve got to read this.
New Year’s resolutions are fantastic, but they don’t work. Why? Because most people don’t stick to them! Why?
Because it’s mundane. It’s boring. It’s repetitive. Time and time again, I see people diving into goal setting like a laundry list of to-do’s. Some people even use what they had last year and tweak the words slightly
Do you feel that way? I’ve so been there.
I care about you. Your goals matter. You matter
And that’s a huge part of why I do what I do. I want to help you.
One crucial lesson I’ve learned is that setting goals without the right mindset is like driving without a map. It’s easy to get lost in others’ expectations or what seems like the “right” thing to do. But with the Roadmap process, it’s a whole new journey. It’s about self-discovery, changing your course, and empowering yourself to turn those dreams into tangible realities. You’d never dream of getting in your car without knowing where you’re headed. Why would you go through life without a guide to get you moving in the right direction?
What has been missing from your past goal setting is a roadmap, a process to uncover what’s in your heart, mind, and soul. A guide to help you discover and identify what you really want. Because until you go through the right process, you’ll never discover what’s buried deep inside of you. Instead, you’ll think goals are boring or unattainable.
Did you know that having goals is vitally important? Research has proven that when you have goals you are more excited about life and generally happier, which lowers your stress and adds purpose to your life. It’s equally important to set up habits and systems that support your journey.
Here’s my personal journey with the roadmap so far.

Reflections of the past year and what to leave behind.
Phew! The last few weeks have been an incredible whirlwind of family and friend gatherings and of course all the delicious food! I admit, that I enjoyed some overindulgence and am ready to kick off 2024 with healthy physical, mental, and spiritual habits. How about you?
I’m thankful that I built in some serious downtime for a much-needed break from meetings, emails, presentations, and yes, even social media. It’s amazing what a little downtime can do to recharge and provide time for reflection. To close out 2023, I reviewed the lessons I learned and made a list of things I’m leaving behind.
This is a work in progress and I encourage you to join me in closing the door on these behaviors in 2024.
Here’s six things to leave behind:
Procrastination: Stop putting off important tasks and goals. Embrace a proactive approach to achieve what you set out to do.
*This means making a plan and sticking to it. And stop putting yourself last on the to-do list because someone or something else is more important than you and your goals.
Negative self-talk: Replace self-limiting beliefs and negative inner dialogue with self-compassion and positive affirmations.
*This means if you’re like me and gained some weight over the holidays, you aren’t going to beat yourself up with negative comments, “You’ve gained so much weight!” “OMG, you are so…!” Instead, you’re going to get back on the healthy habit train.
Comfort zone mentality: Challenge yourself to step outside familiar boundaries and embrace discomfort for personal growth and new experiences.
*This means you aren’t going to settle for a repeat of 2023 in 2024. Instead, you’re going to do something new and different to stretch yourself. It could be that you’re going to learn how to use AI to increase your productivity; challenge yourself to learn one new skill; or focus on one habit you want to develop to increase your overall health, such as using a new app.
Comparison to others: Focus on your journey and progress rather than constantly comparing yourself to others.
*This means you’ll treasure your unique blend of experiences, talents, and capabilities to the point that you don’t need to prove you’re better than someone else. Instead, you’ll focus on improving the person you see in the mirror.
Unhealthy habits: Identify and work on breaking habits that no longer serve your well-being, whether they’re related to health, relationships, or productivity.
*This means that you’ll do the things you know you need to do. I’m talking to myself here too. We know the daily things we do that either move us forward or keep us stuck, right? So begin with changing one habit that isn’t serving you by replacing it with a daily routine that does serve you well.
Fixed mindset: Embrace a growth mindset by seeing challenges as opportunities to learn and develop rather than obstacles that define your abilities.
*This means that you’ll reframe challenges and failures, appreciating them as valuable opportunities for personal growth instead of regarding them with disdain.
Leaving these behind can create space for a better and brighter 2024. A year focused on personal development, improved mental, physical, and spiritual health, and overall well-being.
How about you? What are you going to leave behind?
