I recently listened to this TED talk by Susan Pinker and was blown away by the top 10 secrets for living longer.
What do you think is at the top of the list?
It’s not what you may think. I was shocked to find out that the typical things we think about: quit smoking, stop drinking excessively, have a good diet and exercise, were all much lower on the list. The #1 and #2 secrets to living longer are all about your close personal relationships! Isn’t that amazing? I’ve been teaching people how to build a powerful inner circle for years, but I had no idea the concept was this profound. In case you ever wonder how important it is to have a positive group of people in your life, this research seals the deal! If you need help building a powerful inner circle, you can reach me via email: peggy@peggyvasquez.net.
Some of us have large groups of people that we’re close to, and others have a small group. Some of us connect often, and others not as much. The size and how often you talk or see one another isn’t nearly as important as the quality. We all need to have close, positive, supportive personal relationships.
I’m curious, besides text, phone, video chat, or in-person conversations, what do you do to create and nurture your inner circle? I’d love to hear from you; drop me a note and tell me about how you create an inner circle, and I’ll share my tips too.
